I simply retire the number if that student leaves and add a number if I get a new student. This pretty much matches my grade book as well.bdalbrechthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14232167145482344581noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8562817105461401104.post-12365347741589531402013-06-15T22:47:27.607-04:002013-06-15T22:47:27.607-04:00Thank you so much. This sounds great! Actually I don't even know where the button is to call the office... so if I need something, I send a kid or run and hope nothing happens in the 10 seconds that I'm gone, haha!!

Marvelous Multiagers!Jillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03814613933358631096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8562817105461401104.post-54911401544929618322011-09-23T19:29:00.883-04:002011-09-23T19:29:00.883-04:00Awesome! I use numbers, too. and label many things with numbers so they don't have to be re-made every year.

I use a similar system with folders, envelopes to go home, etc. It's not perfect, but it gets better every year!

Sally from ElementaryMattersSallyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08310519130514048230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8562817105461401104.post-72267282752948536242011-09-23T09:44:39.235-04:002011-09-23T09:44:39.235-04:00I've been using the number system for as long ...I've been using the number system for as long as I can remember. EVERYTHING gets a number - their cubbies, their textbooks/journals, their folders, etc. I find this particularly helpful with my kinders when school first starts because many of them can't write their names yet, but almost all of them are capable of writing a number (that I can recognize!) on their papers.

These are great suggestions for new teachers. I've always wanted to do the numbering thing, but my class list changes so frequently during the year that I just don't know if it would work. Our students move in and out so frequently during the year, it's ridiculous (rent is due at the end of the month, so they find somewhere new to live. Then it happens again the next month.) Anyways, I think I may go ahead and try it out though :) Thanks for the reminder of this great and simple idea.

Jodi
Fun In FirstJodihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03376445866478161460noreply@blogger.com
