I'm so grateful that you wrote this post, because I know exactly what you mean. I don't have a popular blog, though it's been around for awhile. I have a moderately successful TPT store and have been a teacher for 20 years, but I don't have a blogger identity. I just share what I feel like sharing. I don't think my blog has really promoted my store much (if at all), but I still enjoy keeping it. If I can't enjoy myself, then I don't want to bother. Life's too short! I don't have Instagram or Facebook, but I'll certainl stay tuned to your blog posts. I'm already a follower. I am a gifted 4-5th grade teacher in CT. My mindset regarding homework is the same. Having a supportive administration has truly enabled you to change our traditional educational practice and I am thrilled for you. Would you mind my learning from you remotely, as I wish to develop similar changes to my homework instruction. Also, I was curious how the faculty received your ideas? As well as, how you tackle math homework now - as I foresee resistance in this subject area.Julie O'Reillyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16041261368010021301noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8562817105461401104.post-10710806332480309852016-09-26T19:58:26.609-04:002016-09-26T19:58:26.609-04:00I love the idea of this! We did the article on Thursday, and before I had a chance to say anything about a "follow-up" on Friday, they were planning to bring binoculars and carrots to school. So of course I volunteered to bring carrots. I gave some other teachers orange feathers to "casually" share with them during the day. There were other classes at recess when we went out who ended up following us around on our search, all buying into my second graders eagerness to find the lirpaloof. When we finally wrote out lirpaloof backward on the sidewalk, one kid said, "Check it out! It says April Foll and today is April Fools' Day." Then they all went back to searching for the bird. It was a good five minutes more before anyone caught on, and I'm not sure that one boy ever did. We took a great pic at the end that is now the desktop background on my computer. They were such good sports, but stunned that I "would do such a thing!" Thanks for a wonderful start to our spring break! I'm still grinning!Second Grade Sillieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09189355679357385515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8562817105461401104.post-81169052295053528212016-04-03T18:07:21.880-04:002016-04-03T18:07:21.880-04:00Love this!
