My Truth Monday - What's Your One Little Word?

It's been a lot of fun hosting My Truth Monday for the last 12 weeks. I've loved getting to know a bit more about all of my fellow bloggers and blog readers!

Now that the craziness of the holidays is (mostly) behind us, I thought it would be nice to focus on the year ahead. Instead of making a New Year's Resolution this year, I like the idea of One Little Word. It's something I've heard before, but it seems to have originated here, on Ali Edwards' blog. The idea is to choose one word that will define your year. It didn't take me long to think of mine.

I chose revise for many reasons. I've been finding myself endlessly revising my tpt products. I'm always revising my teaching and classroom methods. I'm itching to revise my kitchen cabinet organization and revise and update my home decor. But more than that,  I really feel ready to revise myself. I'm ready for Denise 2.0!

The older I get, the more important I realize the benefits of living a healthier lifestyle. I always say I want to lose weight (my lifelong battle) but it's becoming more about feeling better and warding off some of the painful to think about diseases and conditions that run in my family. I constantly flip flop between feeling old and feeling like I have so much life ahead of me, and I'd really like to concentrate more on the latter. And in order to that, I need to do a lot of revising. Revising how I take care of myself. More than just "dieting" I'm ready to to revise my lifestyle. Eat better, move more, challenge myself to unplug more. So this year, instead of throwing out everything I already do, I'm just going to revise. It's a gentler way for me to think about making big changes. I always start a new year in my typical style - with big lofty goals, major changes, going cold turkey, vows and promises that I think will somehow help me change overnight what I haven't been able to change in 40 years. So this year I will forget all that and just think "revise". I've already got a pretty good foundation, I just need to make some revisions. Sounds good to me!

So, whats your One Little Word? I'd love to hear. Feel free to grab the graphic if you want, but of course, it's not necessary to share your word. If you link up, please do grab the My Truth Monday button below and be sure to link to your specific blog post. If you don't have a blog or don't want to write a whole post, I'd love to hear your word in the comments!

  3. Thanks friend! Now I just need to keep reminding myself of it. One great recommendation I read was to make an actual 3D representation your word. I just got a new Silhouette, maybe this will be my first project :)

  9. LOVE it Denise! I have the same life long struggle as you, so I hear ya! I started with a trainer in October She had some cool quotes hanging up in her studio. I had her take a picture of me with my camera in front of a quote. Perhaps you can write your word and have someone take a picture of you! When I feel unmotivated or overwhelmed I glance at it and it reminds me that I better get to business! If Weight Watchers was one word I would make that mine :) Be well and know there are are whole lot of us in the same boat!

  11. My one little word is going to be "reclaim". I want to reclaim my professional life and interests, reclaim my personal life and time, reclaim joy and passion, etc. I will make decisions based upon whether it helps me reclaim what I want in those areas or not. Reclaim, yep, that sums up my goals. Thank you for sharing the idea of one little word resolutions. I love it!
