Holiday Giveaway Day 2

Welcome to Day 2! I have to start off by saying that your thoughtful comments on yesterday's post felt like Christmas morning to me. Each and every one of them was like a precious gift! Now look what you did, you got me all mushy gushy. Seriously though, I was feelin' the love and I thank you. If you missed yesterday's post, click {HERE} to snag yesterday's freebie and enter the big contest.

Today's freebie is another version of the popular Scoot Game aptly titled "Snowman Scoot".  Lots of you loved Turkey Trivia Scoot, so I'm hoping this is something you'll enjoy just as much. Instead of trivia, this one has some language arts, math and critical thinking questions mixed in. There are 32 cards, directions, an answer sheet for the kids and an answer key for you. Click on the pic to download your very own copy!

I feel like I set a precedent by pairing up my freebie with a craft, so in the spirit of my OCD the season, here is today's craft idea! This is a quick craft that makes a great gift. I made one for myself that I use as a recipe holder all the time. I used to tape my recipes to the door of the cabinet. Then we re-did the kitchen with real wood cabinets, so now this little guy does the trick:
It started out as one of these:
It's a small wooden pants hanger. I found mine in Bed, Bath & Beyond in sets of 5 for under $10. These are easy peasy. Cut a strip of scrapbook paper just slightly larger than the flat wooden side of the hanger. One piece of scrapbook paper will make at least 4 hangers. The width of the hanger is less than 2 inches.
Attach the paper with your favorite adhesive. I'm partial to my Xyron machine, but you can use Mod Podge, spray adhesive or even a tape runner. My little trick is to use a sandpaper block for paper crafting (or a VERY fine sandpaper) and lightly sand off the paper edges that are hanging over the wooden hanger. That way the paper looks like it was painted onto the hanger, even around the rounded edges. If you are feeling really crafty, take an ink pad and ink the edges all they way around. It really gives it some depth. You can see what I mean in the next pictures. I always have a small beige ink pad for this purpose. Beige or brown works for just about any color. Here are some more intricate ones I made using the same idea. I just added a piece of the scrapbook paper in the hanger to hold a photograph. This is actually one double sided hanger for Halloween and Thanksgiving. These make a great room-mom gift if you add a picture of the class and have the kids all write their name on the background paper to slip into the hanger.

I'm a little bit crafty, have I mentioned that? Have you seen my craft room? Take a peek {HERE} if you want to see where the magic happens.

Before I go, I just want to be sure that you've already downloaded the other December freebies I posted to TpT ( see I've been saving some especially for this week that I haven't posted yet...and it's KILLING me to wait to share them all!)  Ok, be sure to snag these as well as the Scoot game above:

See you tomorrow for Day 3!

  8. Thank you for all of you fun freebies and inspiration. Your TPT shop is one of my favorites! My kids love your Scoot and the BUMP games. They were so sad when I told them in October that BOO BUMP was going away and then cheered the day I introduced Gobble BUMP for Math Centers! I am all set with Gingerbread BUMP. Thanks so much for inspiring, supporting and reenergizing me!
