Currently in July

It's time for Farley's Famous Currently!

I look so forward to these every month. It's a fun way to get a glimpse into the lives of the bloggers behind the blogs without those long and winding "Tell 45 things about you" kind of posts.

So, here's mine for July. Most are pretty self-explanatory except for the last one. So for that one, "reads" you need to list your favorite book to read aloud and your go-to professional book.
Well, my favorite, favorite, favorite book of all time forever and ever and ever is Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli.  It's one of those books where the characters just become real. Really real. Then they burrow into your heart and stay there. for a long time. Sadly, the themes and content are a bit much for my second graders. I think if I ever had to move back to 5th grade, being able to read Maniac Magee might be the only reason I wouldn't have a complete and total breakdown.

Now, my go-to professional book is one that I can not find! It's a book by NWEL that I've had for a hundred and ten years. It's basically a compilation of picture books to use as mentor texts according to  writing traits. It's dog-eared, sticky-noted, and highlighted like crazy and somewhere at school packed away in a box in my classroom.

So, that's me currently! Head over to Farley and link up!

  4. Wow, down 4 sizes?! Awesome! I don't know what size you are, but Lane Bryant has some great jeans that sound like they would solve your problem. I am the exact opposite shape...if they fit me at the waist, they are typically WAY too big for the rest of my legs. Their jeans are about the only ones I'll wear now, although Target has started carrying some for people of different shapes and sizes, too. Anyway, enjoy your summer and congrats on your weight loss!!!

My last 13 books have been teaching related. I can't seem to get interested in reading anything else.

  18. I love Spinelli. Have you read Loser? You might be able to read it with second graders. Zinkoff is the most lovable, vivid character I have ever met. It's my second favorite read aloud.

  20. Congratulations on the 4 sizes! That's AMAZING!!!
Why can't they make jeans that fit your whole bottom half instead of one or the other! I have that problem too. I always end up wearing a belt.
    I love Spinelli too!

  22. Congrats on 4 sizes smaller! I need that! :) Teach me your secrets!! Haha. Also, the jeans problem? It happens to every single woman, I think. I have jean-fitting problems too. I love to shop at the Gap for my jeans. Maybe you should look there!

I LOVE me some Maniac Magee. That's one of my favorite books ever. Of all time. It's such a good story.

  28. 4 sizes smaller and 13 books read? I wish I was having your summer- but I bet you are working hard to make time for both :)

I have that same problem! If it fits my hips/ legs/ butt, it gaps in the waist. I've heard "curvy" fits are good for them!
